1. GUNUNG KAWI TEMPLE

This is the most impressive ancient temple in Bali. Built in the 11th century, and located in the village of Tampaksiring (traditional center of Balinese horn and bone carving), Gunung Kawi Temple is famous for its large ancient monuments. The temple consists of 10 rock cut candhi (shrines) dedicated to royal family of the king of Udayana.

2. TIRTA EMPUL - HOLY SPRING TEMPLE

This important temple, the source of holy water for Balinese ceremonies, was built in the eleventh century, atop holy springs (which you can actually see bubble up in a crystal clear tank within the temple). The temple was restored to it's earlier splendor in the late 1960's.

3. MAS - WOOD CARVING VILLAGE

This fascinating village, on the outskirts of Ubud, is home to the traditional craft of Balinese wood carving. Here we can see craftspeople creating their art, as well as visit galleries where some of the finest examples are shown.

4. CELUK - GOLD AND SILVER SMITHING VILLAGE

Next to Mas, we find Celuk, the traditional seat of Bali's famous jewelry production. For generations families in Celuk have passed down their secrets of crafting in precious metals, and create some of the most beautiful jewelry in the world

5. SINGAPADU - STONE CARVING VILLAGE

The next village from Celuk is Singapadu, or Batu Bulan (Stone Moon), the seat of traditional stone sculpture. Here you will see amazing statuary, and the craftspeople who practice this unique art.

7. SANGEH - MONKEY FOREST TEMPLE

Pura Bukit Sari is located in a unique nutmeg grove within a forest resplendent with monkeys. Featuring an old Garuda statue, it is said that this temple appears in the Ramayana.

Arguably the most famous temple in Bali (possibly the most photographed) this temple is located spectacularly on a little rocky coastal islet. One of the most important and venerated sea temples, you will (weather permitting) see a sunset tableau like no other.
