Payangan to Kintamani Trekking
All roads lead to Rome, but in Bali there are many roads that lead you to Kintamani. Probably the most scenic one would be the route from Payangan, traveling through Gianyar to Bangli Regency, past aromatic coffee, clove and fruit plantations to a dangerously beautiful view of volcanoes, mountains and a lake… In fact the only travel warning about Indonesia should read that it is Dangerously Beautiful!
Our journey begins where the fruits on the path we bound to take end up, the Payangan fresh produce market. Trekking through a rice field the first plantation you will see would be of bananas. Interesting to know that there are over 20 different varieties of bananas available on this tropical island. From the tiny finger-like “biyu susu” (milk banana) to the “biyu raja” (king banana) which comes closest to the size and shape of bananas known by the West.
There are numerous small villages between Payangan and Kintamani, your guide will ensure that you have a few intimate encounters with the locals. Once in Kintamani you will even have the chance to pick some oranges from a garden, just before getting treated to a lunch over looking the dangerously beautiful Batur Caldera. Here you will get to relax and reap the fruits of Balinese labor after walking though a paradise of plantations.
